In light of the recent shootings in Atlanta, GA and the violent attacks against Asian-Americans in the Bay Area over these past few months, we as the church must speak out in opposition to all forms of violence, hatred and animus.
We confess that too often, we have remained silent as those who claim the God of every nation, tribe, people and language. We confess that individually, we’ve deferred to past institutional or denominational responses instead of being proactive neighbors called not to seek their own good, but the good of others.
With Jesus as our model and shepherd, we commit to continuing to advance our neighbors’ good names and to seek the peace and welfare of our cities. We desire to point all who hear to the sounds of God’s coming kingdom, when swords will be beaten into ploughshares. Until then, we desire to make it known that Jesus is Lord, Lord over every nation.
Come quickly, Lord Jesus.
Signed,
