The Alameda County Health Department requires, with limited exceptions, that everyone regardless of vaccination status wear face coverings for all indoor gatherings. Masks will be available to facilitate compliance with this order. Thank you.

Holy Week and Easter
Statement on Recent Violence
In light of the recent shootings in Atlanta, GA and the violent attacks against Asian-Americans in the Bay Area over these past few months, we as the church must speak out in opposition to all forms of violence, hatred and animus.
We confess that too often, we have remained silent as those who claim the God of every nation, tribe, people and language. We confess that individually, we’ve deferred to past institutional or denominational responses instead of being proactive neighbors called not to seek their own good, but the good of others.
With Jesus as our model and shepherd, we commit to continuing to advance our neighbors’ good names and to seek the peace and welfare of our cities. We desire to point all who hear to the sounds of God’s coming kingdom, when swords will be beaten into ploughshares. Until then, we desire to make it known that Jesus is Lord, Lord over every nation.
Come quickly, Lord Jesus.
Signed,
Mark Hofman, Pastor Alameda Christian Reformed Church

Lent
Lent is a season of preparation and repentance during which we anticipate Good Friday and Easter. Just as we carefully prepare for big events in our personal lives, such as a wedding or commencement, Lent invites us to make our hearts ready for remembering Jesus’ passion and celebrating his resurrection.
The period of forty days between Ash Wednesday and Easter is set aside for self-examination, spiritual renewal, and growth. In many churches, it is seen as a time for fasting and abstinence, for alms-giving and acts of mercy, for repentance and prayer.
COVID Vaccination Information
Alameda County is at phase 1b and this is about a new vaccination site opened by Alameda County Public Health Dept. (ACPHD).
ACPHD has opened a community vaccination site in Fruitvale, located at Fremont High School at 4610 Foothill Blvd. It’s open Thurs-Sat from 8am to 4pm and appointments are recommended.
They are now able to serve people who are: Age 65+; workers in Childcare and homecare, Education, Food (restaurants, grocery, small food businesses), Emergency Services. They are targeting priority for Alameda County residents who live or work in zip codes 94601, 94603, 94606, 94607, and 94621. Attached are flyers in English & Spanish on the site and on what to expect/bring.
Seniors can of course make appointments themselves by calling 211. Service providers also can make appointments for one or more clients via phone using 211. Reference the flyer and the Fremont High pod.
If you are scheduling an appointment for a resident and they are not there with you at the time, be sure you have the following information:
Age
Zip Code
Race/Ethnicity
Any underlying health condition question (Yes or No)
Healthcare coverage (they have a list to choose from). If they don’t have any, say No coverage.
You can receive the email confirmation for your resident. Be sure to print it out and have them bring it to the vaccine site.

Coffee Break
Coffee Break, a Bible study that has its roots in inductive Bible study, begins a new season on Tuesday, September 10. Inductive bible studies involve reading a passage and asking questions about the text. It is thinking about what the Bible says itself. Discussion grows out of those questions. This women’s study meets on the 2nd, 4th, and 5th Tuesdays beginning on September 10. Gathering and chatting begins at 7:00 pm. The Bible study begins at 7:30 pm and ends with prayer between 8:30 and 9:00 pm. This year the scripture study begins with Mark 7. Lessons are available from Luann. All women are welcome to join this group.
